The Whole Nine Yards

A summary of our 3-5 week, in-kennel training package.

The Idea: This is our GUARANTEED full obedience package. This is where we, as trainers, get to shine. We take a full 3-5 weeks (depending on your dogs learning speed) to engrain everything we believe in as trainers into your dog. We bond with them, we exercise them, we teach them and we discipline them into being the best dog they can be for your family.

The Process: Week One. This is our bonding time. We will spend time with your dog, taking walks, playing, just getting to know each-other. This is where we create a mutual respect and trust, on which we base our whole program. This is a very easy and enjoyable week for your dog.

Week Two. We begin work here. This is where we introduce some of the commands we will use, as well as establish a method of correction that best suits your dog. This is where we learn your dogs real personality, and what we need to do to communicate with them most effectively. This is still a fairly light week in terms of what we expect from them.

Week Three. This week, we introduce all other commands we will use, and also polish the ones they already know. We come closer to ‘zero tolerance’ at this point. This is where you see the most exciting change in your dog. As he learns commands, and is expected to perform them well, he becomes more and more eager to please. This is where the dog learns to really enjoy being obedient.

Week Four. This is our ‘zero-tolerance’ week of polishing and perfecting commands, obedience, and behavior. This is also where we will begin any off-leash training (optional) that we may do. During this week the dog spends more time with a trainer than before and is expected to perform at all times. By this point they know what is expected and they enjoy showing you what you can do.

***this is the basic format we use for each dog. However, every dog is different and some take longer than others to graduate to the next phase in their training. Progress will be assessed by our professional trainers and the length of their stay will be determined accordingly.

The Result: The end result of this program is this: 1. Your dog will know and perform desired commands… ‘Sit’, (lay) ‘down’, ‘heel’, ‘place’ (a favorite command for many owners), ‘off’, ‘come’ or ‘here’. And also some ‘automatic’ actions…. Automatic ‘sit’ - anytime you walk with a leash, whenever you stop walking, your dog should sit. Automatic ‘heel’- again, on-leash, anytime you resume walking your dog should heel, without a spoken command. Automatic ‘stay’- our ‘sit’, ‘place’, and ‘down’ commands are an ‘assumed ‘stay’’ so you will never have to tell them when to stay, they already know!

2. You, as the owner, and pack leader of your dog, will meet with us once a week to work with us and your dog to understand the work we are doing. This will allow you to be educated, and also help you maintain all we have done, after our program is over. We will also do a number of follow-up sessions in your home to be sure your dog is still ‘in tune’ when he leaves us, and also to address any specific behavior issues he has at home that we could not address in-kennel.

3. Its GUARANTEED! For the life of your dog, if you have trouble with anything we have taught your dog, we will ‘tune’ them up for free. Also, anytime you leave town, if you board your dog with us, we will work on their training for free!

The Cost: Base Fee: $1,500. This covers everything above, including boarding and food for the training period. An electronic training collar can also be purchased (optional but recommended in most cases) for $200 plus tax. Any extensive behavior work may have an additional cost to be assessed by the trainer. This is rare but sometimes we need to put some extensive and specialized work into correcting some behavior problems.

Hourly sessions with a trainer:
For those who want some advice and specific direction for some of their dogs’ behavior issues, we offer one-on-one appointments with a trainer. As trainers, we believe the best way to change a dog, is to build a relationship over a period of time. The hourly appointment does not allow for that. We do, however, utilize YOUR relationship with your dog, and coach you and your dog through some techniques and philosophies to help you with specific problems.

$75/hour in store - $100/hour in your home.

Weekly Rates for In-Kennel Training: Sometimes it is necessary to remove the dog from the problem. In this case, we do weekly in-kennel training for addressing specific issues in your dog. Sometimes the hourly appointments just aren’t enough, and a week with us away from home is answer.
